Belmullet in the Barony of Erris

Belmullet is a coastal town in the Barony of Erris in the west of County Mayo. With a population of 1200 Belmullet has lovely shops, hotels & B&Bs, Post Office, Banks, Restaurants, Cafés and Pubs. Being a regular Tidy Towns Medal Winner with GOLD MEDALS in 2015 & 2016 it invites to beautiful walks around the town. With local arts and crafts, leisure centres, kids play areas, horse riding, golf and all sorts of water sports, boat trips and sea angling, bike hire and plenty more to do. Well worth a visit are the near by Wild Nephin Ballycroy National Park and the historic Ceide Fields and the wonderful Discovery Points of the Wild Atlantic Way, which can be combined with some of the beautiful walks in the area.

Belmullet Annual Heritage Day began August 2004.
The Town of Belmullet celebrates its past history and traditions. There are Workshops of craft work of present and past where the public can participate and return home with a lovely piece of hand craft.
Workshops in Weaving, Knitting, Pottery, Thrashing, Butter-making, Rope-making, Boxty, Basket-making,
Wood-turning, Willow and Reed Craft, Poteen making, to name but a few of the great inter-active workshops happening at Belmullet Heritage Day.
There are great motorised model displays in Cars, Trains, Tractors and Farm Machinery.
Street entertainment all day with Stilt Walkers, Magicians, Puppetry, Balloon Artistry and much much more for all the family to enjoy.
Music all day on the Main Stage at Carter Square and on all the streets. Strawboys and Irish dancers entertaining the crowd.
Numerous stalls and displays of artisan foods and craft.
Local fish mongers cook up a meal that will leave your platter with a zest for more, an experience not to miss.
Visit our Thatched Cottage, lay yourself down on the straw bed or listen to stories of by-gone days, have a cup of tea at the open fire and look through the album of photos. All are welcome at the Thatch House.
Local farmers bring along their finest stock for you to admire and enjoy. Visit the pet farm animals along with the smallest cow in the world, get your photo taken with the flying eagle, what a spectacular show of events at Belmullet Heritage Day.
Our Heritage Day has gone from strength to strength and the steadfast theme of our day is for all to celebrate our past and create memories for all to enjoy.
